Who I am.

My name is Angelo DiGiorgio , I was born and raised here in Utica, N.Y. and When I was a junior at Proctor High School I skipped a study hall to drive a few blocks over to purchase a small collectible for a teacher who had seen it photographed in an advertisement online. After seeing a house full of antique furniture and oddities, I was hooked. I have always enjoyed collecting vinyl records, but the older I got the more I came to appreciate many other treasures of yesteryear, bakelite, PYREX, vintage clothing, and all things retro. So it was an easy transition to begin working in the industry while I continued by studies. When college brought me to Chicago I joined the team for a company there. I graduated with a B.A. in Comedy Writing from Columbia College Chicago, graduated the Conservatory Program at The Second City and continue to audition for film and television with my agency digitally, but aside from acting and comedy I just seem to have a knack for all things antique.

So, why ‘Handshake’ the name Handshake Antiques comes directly from the 1970’s monicker for my CNY hometown, describing it as a friendly place, and a nice place to be. I couldn’t agree more. Furthermore I wanted to make clear that despite my age I know my business and I will work tirelessly to provide the best experience for my clients.

Now, almost 7 years since I skipped school to shop for a teacher, I am back in Utica and ready to help those who find themselves overwhelmed with a house full of stuff whether you're moving cross country and leaving some treasures behind or have the task of emptying an estate after the passing of a loved one, no job is too small.
